Removing Xupiter
Ok, straight up, I hate this piece of crap. I typed in the wrong web address and BAM! This software installed itself into my computer and integrated itself into Internet Explorer. It has now taken over!!! Well here is how I removed it. Remember, I am using Windows 2000 and that I do not guarantee that this will work for you. I am not liable if you mess up your system either. With that out of the way....
First, I deleted some registry entries, so fire up the registry editor by going to Start->Run and popping in 'regedit'. Once it opens, navigate to 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\' and delete the following keys:
  • {2662BDD7-05D6-408F-B241-FF98FACE6054}
  • {57E69D5A-6539-4d7d-9637-775DE8A385B4}
  • {6E6DD93E-1FC3-4F43-8AFB-1B7B90C9D3EB}
Now zip on over to 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\TypeLib\' and delete
  • {43732063-1BDA-45A0-BBEE-13E014CB4041}
  • {909E0059-F545-42DE-9D2C-CC4A3E336EC3}
  • {C6C2871F-7467-4A35-90FA-9E9894BC1916}
Next slide down to 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\' and remove
  • XupiterToolbar.Band
  • XupiterToolbar.Band.1
The next part isn't a whole key, just part of one. So Jump on over to
'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main'
and modify the 'Search Bar' string to be blank. Also change 'Search Page' and 'Default_Search_URL' to be blank too.

Now delete 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Xupiter'.

Still more to delete, go over to
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Code Store Database\Distribution Units\{A27CFCAE-9351-4D74-BFFC-21EB19693D8C}'

Continuing on to modify the 'SearchAssistant' field in
'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search' to be blank.

Damn this little SOB sure loads a lot eh? Head on down to 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run' and delete 'XupiterCfgLoader' and 'XupiterStartup'.

Now this next one might be located in a different location for you, mine was under
'HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1960408961-492894223-1708537768-1000\Software\Xupiter'
if yours is the same (I doubt it unless your username happens to be Robert Foster) but look around in there and delete it if found.

We're all done with the registry, so close it out and restart the computer. While booting up hit the F8 key repeatedly until you get a Windows startup menu. Select command prompt. Now type the next few lines exactly as written, Hit the return key after any ''. Also, answer yes to any prompt that says 'Are you sure?!?!!?'

First, type 'cd C:\progra~1\'

Now type 'rmdir /s Xupiter' Answer yes.

Next type 'cd c:\winnt\downlo~1'.

Pound in 'del Xupiter*.inf'

Restart the system and bam! It only took 10 minutes to uninstall a program that installed itself without you permission and doesn't even bother to provide an uninstall file! BASTARDS!
